What a Trovfolio value is — and isn’t.

Estimates, not appraisals

Every value shown in Trovfolio is an automated estimate generated by software using artificial intelligence and third-party market data. A Trovfolio value is not a certified appraisal, not a guarantee of price, and not an offer to buy or sell. It is not prepared by a certified or accredited appraiser, does not constitute a USPAP-compliant appraisal, and should not be represented as one to any insurer, court, tax authority, lender, or other party.

Actual prices realized in a real transaction may be materially higher or lower than any estimate shown, and may change at any time.

What the numbers mean (value types)

Trovfolio labels each estimate by value type, and these are not interchangeable. We never blend them into a single number, and neither should you:

• Resale value — an estimate of what an item might sell for today in a typical secondary-market sale. Not what you paid, and not what it would cost to replace new.
• Replacement value — an estimate of the cost to acquire a comparable item, typically at retail. Usually higher than resale value.
• Fair-market value — an estimate of a price between a willing buyer and seller, where applicable.
• Cost basis — a value you or your records supplied (e.g., a receipt); not a market estimate by us.

Each estimate is also tagged with its source and a confidence level. Lower-confidence estimates — common for items with few market comparables, such as art or bespoke pieces — carry greater uncertainty and should be treated with particular caution.

How estimates are produced (and their limits)

Estimates are generated automatically from photographs and information you provide, combined with third-party marketplace and pricing data. This process has inherent limitations, including but not limited to:

• The software may misidentify an item, its model, materials, authenticity, or condition from a photograph.
• Market data may be incomplete, delayed, out of date, or unavailable for a given item or category.
• Estimates do not verify authenticity and do not detect counterfeits, alterations, damage, or provenance issues.
• Condition, completeness (e.g., box and papers), rarity, and local market factors materially affect real value and may not be fully captured.
• Values can move between refreshes; a value is only as current as its "last updated" timestamp.

How often values update. Trovfolio refreshes values automatically on a schedule, but not all items refresh at the same frequency, and we may change how often any item refreshes at any time. Because a price change affects a lower-value item far less in dollar terms, lower-value items (generally those under roughly $1,000) are typically refreshed less often than higher-value items — for example, monthly rather than every couple of weeks — and the least valuable items may update less often still. As a result, a lower-value item's estimate may be older than a higher-value item's. We do not guarantee any particular refresh frequency.

In some cases the value we feature for an item is the most reliable recent estimate rather than the most recent one — for example, a higher-confidence reading from a few days earlier instead of a newer, lower-confidence one. When we do this, we show both the date that value was produced and the date we last checked the item, so you can always see how current it is. The date shown with each value is the authoritative indicator of how current it is — check it before relying on a value, and use an on-demand refresh if you need a more current estimate.

Our valuation methods may change at any time. Trovfolio is a tool to help you understand and organize the approximate value of what you own — it is not a professional appraisal and is not a substitute for one. We continually develop how we estimate value, and we reserve the right, in our sole discretion and without notice, to add, remove, replace, or change the models, methodologies, algorithms, data sources, value types, confidence measures, and refresh schedules we use — including the artificial-intelligence models and third-party market data we rely on. A change to our methods may cause an item's estimated value, its value type, or its confidence level to change even when the item itself and the wider market have not. We do not guarantee that any methodology, model, data source, value, or feature will remain available or unchanged.

Trovfolio estimates are provided for personal informational and organizational purposes only. They are not financial, investment, tax, legal, insurance, or appraisal advice.

Do not rely on a Trovfolio estimate for any decision that matters without independent verification by a qualified professional. In particular, before using any value for insurance, estate planning or probate, tax, or buying/selling/lending, obtain an independent, qualified, professional valuation. Trovfolio is a tool to help you organize and monitor your belongings, not a substitute for professional judgment.

Third-party data

Estimates may incorporate data from third-party sources and marketplaces. We do not control and do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or availability of third-party data. Third-party marks and data belong to their respective owners.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Fistbumplabs, LLC is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your reliance on any estimate or value shown in Trovfolio.
